YummY! Down on This

I need advice from other pet moms!

I’ve had it to my wits end with my lab.

He’s always had a lot of medical problems. Digestive problems, skin problems, and an early developing hip problem. He’s medicated for each of them.

Now he’s developing personality problems. He’s either bored or depressed.

I simply cannot entertain Boomer. He wanders around the house, pacing and whining and nudging for attention but wandering off when I try to pet or play with him.

He will not play ball with me. Will not play fetch with me. Will not play tug with me. He will not play hide and seek with me.

He’s an un-neutered male, and I KNOW he needs to be neutered but my husband says its unnecessary surgery and refuses to have it done.
Honestly, I think its a man thing…he doesn’t want to deprive the dog of his balls….which he will never get to use anyway.

Boomer’s miserable because, to put it bluntly, he’s horny. Their are females in heat next door.

As a result he’s molesting his brother. He constantly got his nose up the back end of Rusty and constantly trying to hump him. Poor Rusty pretty much stays in a ball on the corner of the sofa because every time he tries to move Boomer is up his bum.

That is causing Rusty to be aggressive towards Boomer. I’m always having to break up snarling contests before they become full fledged fights.

He’s hated the outdoors all his life, and we cannot leave him in the yard alone. He’ll just stand and scratch at the back door as long as it takes for us to let him back in.

Hubby takes him for walks (I can’t because we have dogs in our neighborhood that are aggressive and I can’t protect MY dogs form them if they attack us again) but he doesn’t even like walks. He’ll only walk so far then want to come back in. Hubby can’t force him to keep going without litereally dragging him down the street.

I try to play with Boomer, take him outside alone to spend time with just him and not his brother., but he just wants to come back in. He will not chase a ball, a frisbee, a tug toy, more than twice for me. He just paces and pants and whines. Paces and pants and whines. Paces and pants and whines.

And when he’s not pacing, panting and whining he’s chewing on himself…..out of boredom. You can see the hot spots on his feet in the bottom picture here. People have suggested distracting him when he does this, but I can’t seem to distract him with anything to make him stop since HE WON’T PLAY WITH ME!!

All this poor dog hears anymore is “Boomer no!” “No!” Boomer Stop!” “Boomer, stop! No! Boomer, leave him alone. No! Boomer would you PLEASE QUIT HUMPING YOUR BROTHER!!!!!!”

I don’t know what to do to make him happy, and I don’t know what to do to make him leave Rusty alone (aside from nutering him which hubby adamantly refuses to have done) and his currently personality has me wanting to lock him in his bedroom so I don’t have to deal with it.

HELP!!!!!!!

All the Little Things

1. I had a week off work, even if I was confined to the sofa most of the time.
2. Having such great in-laws.
3. A decent weekend spending time with my husband. (minimal arguing)
4. Easy to cook foods.
5. My george foreman grill
6. I have a job to go back to tomorrow.
