LEAF

I like leaves.

Granted, I prefer them on trees.  But sometimes a leaf’s just GOTTA fall, you know.  Like in Autumn.

Fall is my favorite time of the year, even though the trees go all dead and look like large wooden skeletons of some kind of tall monster with many arms.

The evergreens stay green, of course, but I’m not a fan of the evergreens.

I’m also not a fan of palm trees.  Sadly, when living in a coastal area, every time someone opens a new shopping complex or whatnot, they surround the place with palm trees.  -shudder-

I like shade trees.  Sweetgum and oak trees.  Large pecan trees and pecans.  Pecans are SOOOO good.  Where my grandmother lived, there was a strip of pecan trees between her house and my aunts house next door.  We could go outside and sit on the ground and just eat pecans to our hearts content.  When I learned how to use 2 pecans to crack each other instead of having to use the pecan cracker I was just the happiest little girl in the world.

I remember sticking a barbie sticker to the leaf of a tree and convincing one of my younger cousins that the treen had GROWN it there naturally.  The sticker stayed on that leaf all summer.

All the Little Things

1.  This little exchange at work:
Mrs. E- “Winona, do you have a gun with you?”
Me - “No ma’am, I sure don’t”
Random Customer - “I’m sure glad to hear you say you don’t have one!”
(Just for the record, a “gun” is an RF scan unit we use to scan products and find out stuff like where they go and how much they cost.)

2.  A cloud that looked like a rearing horse with a long flowing mane.

5.  The internet.  Hooray internet.
